The net worth limit does not include the home's value, up to one acre of land. The net financial worth excludes up to five acres of land from the primary residence that cannot be subdivided under approved zoning and remains taxable. When the property is jointly owned and the co-owner is deceased, a certified copy of the death certificate must be provided.

People with psychological or physical infirmities are given special consideration by the IRS. The IRS favors offers from those with poor financial prospects as a result of advanced age, especially those over 60. The IRS will also consider HIV, drug- and alcohol-related issues as well as the family member's problems if they have a negative financial impact on you.
Fresh Start Program allows taxpayers who owe back taxes to enter into an agreement that spreads out the payment over several months but not more than 5-6 years. You will need to make direct debit payments.

Taxpayers who file an Offer based on a theory as to doubt as to liability (or DATL) will need to establish that they have not otherwise had an opportunity to dispute a tax liability. If the IRS can show that the taxpayer received the proper notices of assessment and failed to act on them, or otherwise contested the tax in the context of an audit, the taxpayer will not be able to seek this sort of relief. An Offer in Compromise based solely on the basis of Doubt as to liability does not require the submission of financial information.

Only qualified individuals can get tax relief through the federal Fresh Start Program. To be eligible for the IRS Fresh Start Initiative, you must show that paying your taxes would cause substantial financial hardship. You will be able to choose the type of Fresh Start program that suits your needs based on the extent of your financial hardship. The IRS has guidelines that define what constitutes a "financial hardship", but you as the taxpayer or the tax relief agency hired to represent you have full responsibility for proving the hardship.
Currently non-collectible status, unlike the other Fresh Start tax programs, is a status rather than a type of Fresh Start tax relief. If the taxpayer cannot pay their taxes, the IRS has the right to put them in Currently Noncollectible status. Although this status does nothing to remove tax debt, it does end any collection activities. These activities include wage garnishments and bank levies as well as tax liens. Taxpayers can find Fresh Start tax relief with Currently Not-Collectible Status in peace. The IRS will not pursue them. The IRS Fresh Start Program qualification requirements are required to qualify for Currently Collectible Status. These qualifications are discussed below. It is highly recommended that you speak with a tax professional before applying for this status from the IRS. If you attempt to apply for the IRS Fresh Start Initiative Program yourself, the IRS may try to negotiate terms that are more favorable to you. After your Currently Not-Collectible Status expires, the IRS can begin collecting payments again. This will mean that the IRS will continue sending letters and phone calls warning of penalties. A tax relief company will help you remain in Currently Non Collectible Status for as long as possible and can also help you to develop a strategy to leave Non Collectible Status.
